Instead of narrow specialisation, work skills are increasingly becoming cross-sectoral. The competencies of an ideal future employee would thus be T-shaped – with in-depth knowledge in at least one sector and ability to understand and interconnect other disciplines and people working in these disciplines. (OSKA study by the Estonian Qualifications Auhtority “Work and Trends 2025”)

On 27 May the National Library of Estonia organises an international seminar to talk about the challenges and opportunities of future work. We will look at the drivers reshaping the landscape of work and discuss how should employers and employees prepare for the changes. We will try to identify what are the key work skills and jobs in the future and what would be the impact of the growing role of artificial intelligence. Special focus will be given to innovative and creative library, and the competencies librarians need today and in the future to keep pace with the needs of their users, their organisation and the society.

The seminar is supported by the Conference of European National Librarians (CENL).

Welcome to the seminar! Participation is free.

The seminar takes place online, the link will be sent to those who have registered. Simultaneous interpretation is provided into Estonian and English.
