NATIONAL LIBRARY OF ESTONIA AS A CULTURAL CENTRE

Besides being a library, the National Library of Estonia functions also as a cultural centre where various book and art exhibitions are held along with concerts, conferences and other cultural activities.
The National Library is a good partner for organising exhibitions as it fosters the development of cultural contacts by its nature. The Library cooperates with culture institutions all over the world. In cooperation with foreign embassies the National Library has carried out significant cultural projects involving concerts, exhibitions and conferences.

The exhibitions halls, stairways and cloisters with natural dolomite walls have inspired several artists to display their work here. Books, photo and art expositions both of young and old masters from Estonia and abroad have been organized.

In 1996 Eduard Wiiralt Gallery was opened at the National Library. Eduard Wiiralt was a famous Estonian graphic artist.
