Conference and HackDays on semantic technologies in libraries
On 10-11 May 2012 the conference “Semantic technologies in libraries: from text to structure – from words to meaning” will be hosted by the Research Library in Olomouc, Czech Republic. The second EOD HackDays and an open post-conference meeting of the eBooks on Demand (EOD) network will also be held.
Under digitisation projects, thousands of pages with automatically recognised full text are produced. The aim of the conference is to explore the ways how to add value to this rich source material with semantic web technologies in libraries. See the program.
EOD HackDays welcome all the coders and thinkers wishing to brainstorm over the integration of EOD metadata and content with other data sources, social platforms, websites or programs. See more.
The post-conference EOD meeting introduces the latest developments of the EOD service and the network. Also, the results of the HackDays will be presented. All interested conference and HackDays participants are welcome. See more.
Registration on the conference website.
The EOD service which enables to order digital copies from copyright free books is currently provided by 30 libraries in Europe and more institutions are expected to join.
