Estonian ISBN Agency, Estonian ISSN Centre and Estonian ISMN Agency are international standard number centres located in the National Library of Estonia, which assign international standard numbers to items published in Estonia (books, periodicals, maps, network publications, CD-ROMs, audiovisual documents, sheet music, etc.).

Standard numbers for publications to be published (including electronic) can be obtained by filling out an appropriate application form on the NLE homepage: ISBN form for printed publications, ISBN for electronic publications, ISSN, ISMN.

On the basis of the data submitted upon application for the standard number, a record is compiled for IHTEK, a preliminary catalogue of soon to be published books in the e-catalogue ESTER, that will inform  publishers, book dealers, librarians and other potential customers about literature soon to be published.

The National Library of Estonia acquires and stores in its collections two copies of every printed publication, and one copy of every electronic and audiovisual publication, received on the basis of the Deposit Copy Act.

Information on publications acquired as deposit copies during the current year can be obtained from the web publication of the Estonian national bibliography New Estonian Books and from the Estonian national bibliography database ERB.

Print output statistics are compiled on the basis of indexed books and serial publications. The statistics are available in the subsection of print output of the section Culture in the Social Life database of the Statistical Office and in the printed publications Culture and Statistical Yearbook of Estonia (Kultuur and Eesti statistika aastaraamat).
