Information on the publications in the library is available from the electronic catalogue ESTER and from the card catalogue on the 5th floor.

The electronic catalogue is accessible through the library’s public terminals and on the Internet at tallinn.ester.ee. The readers can order publications listed in the electronic catalogue to reading rooms through the terminals as well as via the Internet.

When placing your order, please enter your name, number of your library card and the Pin number. The Pin number with instructions on its substitution later on, is issued upon reader registration or re-registration. Further information from the Central Lending Desk, phone: 630 7400, e-mail: tellpunktnlib.ee

As the electronic catalogue does not yet contain information on all publications available in the library, please use the card catalogue as well. To order from the card catalogue, please fill out the call card and hand it to the Central Lending Desk.

Publications can also be ordered on the phone: 630 7400 and by e-mail: tellpunktnlib.ee
Publications from the general, professional and foreign countries’ reading rooms can be used in these respective reading rooms. Only the books stored in the stack have to be ordered. Waiting time is 30 minutes.

Orders for the same day are received until 19.15 on workdays and until 18.15 on Saturdays.
Only trade literature should be ordered to specialised reading rooms. Literature on other subjects should be ordered to the general reading room. The publications should only be used in the same reading room where they were ordered. If the reader does not collect the ordered publications within 3 days, they will be returned to the stack. Publications can be reserved for further usage for up to 1 month.

There is a queue for the most required literature at the Central Lending Desk, where the readers can enlist.

There is no home lending, except for sheet music and literature from international reading rooms.

The publications that are missing from the library or their copies can be ordered via the inter-library loan (ILL) from other libraries in Estonia and abroad. The ILL orders can be placed in the Reference Reading Room on the 5th floor, on the phone: 630 7410, fax: 630 7401, by e-mail: illnlib.ee and from the website of NLE.

The specialised reading rooms contain encyclopaedias, monographies and periodicals on the specific subject. The public terminals can be used to search the databases.

The readers’ consultants from the specialised reading rooms answer enquiries and provide assistance with the search of information.
In addition to the free foundation services the library also offers paid special services. The prices are available at the Information Desk, in the reading rooms and on the NLE website.

Private working rooms are available upon reservation from the Central Lending Desk. See also the instructions for the usage of private working rooms.

Copies can be made in all reading rooms. See also the Rules for users of the Library, point 5: Reproduction of Material held in the National Library Collections.

Rules for the Use of Computers in the Library apply to the usage of computers and public terminals.
